Download Required Files

You’ll need to download a few files to flash the HavocOS to upgrade your Galaxy Note 3 to Android 10. I have shared the links below to help you quickly download the required files.

You need to download four files before starting the process – ROM, TWRP Image File, Gapps, and Odin. Odin & TWRP files are for your PC, and the ROM & Gapps should be stored on your phone.

It’s also necessary to download the correct files according to the variant, so you should check out the description before downloading a particular file.

ROM

ROM stands for Read Only Memory, and a custom ROM replaces your device’s operating system. To upgrade your Samsung Galaxy Note 3, you need to change the operating system and replace it with the HavocOS.

Before you start the downloading process, select the correct one so that the process doesn’t fail and you don’t face any errors.

TWRP Image File

TWRP is an open-source project for all Android devices that helps users install third-party firmware on their devices. They can also back up the current system to safeguard the data.

You’ll see many Samsung devices there; you need to find the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in a particular location. On the next page, select the variant according to your device’s model and download that on your device.

Odin

Odin is a firmware flashing software used to communicate in download mode. So, you’ll need to download this app on your computer first to install a custom firmware image.

You’ll get many versions of Odin on the website, but I suggest you install the latest release so that it works more smoothly.

After the download is completed, install it on your computer by clicking the Yes button whenever prompted.

TIP: Although it doesn’t matter much where you place the Gapps and ROM files on your phone, I suggest you keep them in your device storage and avoid using SD Card storage.

How to Install AOSP Android 10 Update for Galaxy Note 3?

After downloading all the required resources and placing them in the correct storage, you’re ready for installation. 

But it won’t be easy for you if you’re doing this for the first time. So, to do that without any errors, check out the steps below that I have shared and follow each meticulously.

  • First, open the Odin application on your computer.
  • Now, connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
  • Under the Log section, you’ll see that the device was added.
  • Now, on the Odin window, click on the AP button.
  • It’ll take you to your computer’s File Manager; you need to find the TWRP file and click the Start button to begin the flashing process.
  • After downloading the Image File, your mobile will boot up in recovery mode.
  • When you’re in the TWRP recovery, click on Wipe.
  • Then, tap on Advanced Wipe.
  • Select ART Cache, System, Data, and Cache from the menu.
  • After that, you must slide the “Swipe to wipe” option.
  • You must return to the TWRP recovery page by pressing the back button.
  • Then, tap on the Install button.
  • It’ll show you all the files on your device; you need to locate the ROM file where you downloaded or moved it.
  • Click on the Havoc OS name.
  • Then, slide the “Swipe to confirm Flash” option.
  • Now, the flashing process will start and will take a while to get completed.
  • After it’s done, you need to go to the recovery page and tap the Install button.
  • Select the Gapps file and then slide “Swipe to confirm Flash” at the bottom.
  • It’ll take some time to complete again, so you must wait until it’s done.
  • Finally, return to the TWRP recovery page and select the Reboot option.

This first boot after the custom ROM installation will take around 30 minutes, so don’t worry; wait.

After it boots up, you can navigate to your device’s settings and then about the phone to check out the Android version. You’ll see that you’ve updated to Android 10 and can use all the features.
