How to Add Page Borders In Google Docs

Using some of the methods provided below, you can create a border around the pages in Google Docs. All the methods provided below are very simple and easy to use. To insert a page border in Google Docs, follow the methods given below-

By Inserting a Single Cell Table

In this method, you will have to add a single cell table to create a border around the page. The steps for this are as follows-

How to Add Page Borders In Google Docs

  • Open Google Docs and then click on the Insert menu.
  • Inside the insert menu, click on Table and then click 1×1 table.
  • You will now see a single cell table on the Docs.
  • Now, readjust the height and width of the table so that it covers the entire page.
  • After finishing this, you will see a border formed by the table. You can now type in what you want; the table will act as a page border.

You can add text color and background color and adjust the text per your preference. You can adjust the table if you don’t like the default style.

By Inserting a Drawing

This is another way to create a page border in Google Docs. in this method, you have to insert a drawing and, using the drawing create a text box that will act as a page border. To do so, follow the steps given below-

  • First, open Google Docs, click on the Insert menu, and then click on Drawing.
  • Under the Drawing option, click on New, select Shapes, and select the rectangle shape.
  • You will now get a drawing tool. Draw the rectangle and adjust it according to your requirement. Click on Save and Close to save.
  • A rectangle will be added to your document. You can change the size by dragging the sides or the corners.
  • Now, if you want to change the background border of the document, select the rectangle and click on the Edit option.
  • Now the drawing tool will be again visible on the toolbar; here, you can fill in the color, border color, border line thickness, and border style.
  • Once done, click Save and Close, and the document will be saved.

If you don’t want to insert a shape in the document, then you can add an image box, which will work the same way.

By Inserting an Image as Page Border

Now, if you want to create some creative borders, this is the best way. This is done by inserting a border image into the document. To do so, follow the steps given below-

  • First, open Google Docs, click on the Insert menu and then click Image.
  • Under the Image option, click on Search The Web.
  • Type Borders in the search field and search the web for the borders.
  • Select an image that you like. After selecting, click on the Insert option.
  • Now, an image border will be inserted into the document. You can resize the image border by clicking and dragging the sides and the edge.
  • Because the frame added is an image, you won’t be able to type on it. You will have to move the image behind the text. You can do so by following the steps given below-
    • Select the image and click on the Behind Text icon at the bottom of the image.
    • Now, you can type anywhere inside the image border very easily.

Conclusion

These were all the ways to add a page border to Google Docs. As you know, there is no option to automatically add the page border to your document in Google Docs, and you will have to go for the alternative ways mentioned in this article. You can follow the above steps, and you will be able to add page borders to Google Docs.
